Abstract
Indigenous textiles in India showcase the rich cultural diversity and craftsmanship of local artisanal communities, often originating from lesser-known regions and using age-old techniques passed down through generations. However, these traditional textiles face the challenge of being overshadowed by contemporary fashion trends, which are often influenced by celebrities. Celebrities and fashion stylists, who collaborate to curate public looks, have a powerful impact on youth fashion. By incorporating indigenous textiles into modern fashion, stylists help revitalize interest in these fabrics. When celebrities endorse these textiles, they not only set trends but also shape public perception by highlighting the cultural significance of the materials and the artisans behind them. Fashion stylists play a key role in bridging the gap between traditional craftsmanship and modern fashion by leveraging storytelling and online platforms to engage audiences emotionally. Through awareness campaigns and community involvement, they promote cultural heritage and advocate for sustainable fashion practices. This paper explores how fashion styling can support the preservation and promotion of indigenous textiles, ensuring their relevance without compromising authenticity. It also highlights the role of structured workshops in empowering students and artisans to integrate traditional craft with contemporary styling, fostering appreciation for the cultural and historical value of these textiles.
